From Zero to Fifty in 2.5 Years: An Update on MSR India

On Jan 12, 2005 Microsoft Research Inaugurated its 5th worldwide
Computer Science Lab in Bangalore, India.  Today we have grown to
about 50 people working in six different research areas, pushing the
state of the art as well as doing a fair amount of technology transfer
to MS products.  We are also engaged in a strong partnership with the
scientific community in India to advance the state of CS research in
India.  In this talk, I will explain where we are now, how we got
there, and talk a bit about some of our more exciting projects.  I
will also share some of the anecdotes from our experience setting up
and building a world class research lab in India.
