Exploiting Data Independence (An EPSRC-funded Research Project) * Research Officer * PhD Studentship Research Officer ---------------- The Oxford University Computing Laboratory seeks a research officer to work on an EPSRC-funded research project led by Professor A.W. Roscoe and R.S. Lazic. The object of the research is to further the theory of data independence in CSP, extend the results obtained for CSP to other notations, and seek both theoretical and practical applications. (A parallel research project, both within and funded by DERA, will be beginning shortly with the objective of developing tools and finding applications for the principal investigators' work in this area. Therefore the role of the university-based project supporting this post is primarily theoretical.) The post would suit post-doctoral or researchers of a similar standing who have an interest in one or more of the following: * data independence * model checking * process algebra * term rewriting * theorem proving It will involve working in a team that includes the principal investigators, several doctoral students, and researchers working on the DERA project. The post is for three years starting as soon as possible after 2 April 1999. Salary will be on the age and experience related RS1A grade (currently £15,735 to £23,651 p.a., with a starting salary up to £18,275 p.a.).
