ENS/INRIA Visual Recognition and Machine Learning
Summer School
Paris, France, 25-29 July 2011

Location:

The summer school will take place in central Paris at the Ecole Normale Superiéure (ENS) campus

45, rue d’Ulm
75230 Paris cedex 05
France

How to get there:

If you arrive from Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports, you may take a direct train RER-B to Luxembourg station located close to ENS. The same train line connects ENS to the railway stations Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est, see Paris metro map here.

Once at the Luxembourg station, take the south exit (in the direction of the train if you travel from the Charles de Gaulle Airport) and follow Rue de l'Abbé-de-l'Épée towards Rue d'Ulm and ENS.

Entering ENS campus:

You should be able to enter ENS campus freely during business hours. Please always carry with you your summer school badge and show it at the ENS reception if requested (you will get a badge at the registration desk on the first day). ENS guards will also have a list of all summer school participants and will let you in if you provide them your name. Once inside ENS campus, you will see ENS/INRIA Summer School signs which will guide you to the reception desk and the lecture amphitheater.

To enter ENS on Sunday and in the evenings after 21:00, you will need to ring a bell at the entrance of the reception.

Getting around:

Paris is best traversed by Metro, by foot or with Velib. If you stay at ENS, you can reach many attractions by walking, e.g. Jardin du Luxembourg, Seine river and Notre Dame cathedral. If your hotel is not too far from ENS and if you enjoy cycling, getting a one-week Velib pass might be a good option for you. You may also consider buying a one-week Metro pass.
