I think ICALP works pretty well, it has good papers and a good reputation. How to make it even better? One possible direction might be to attempt to reduce the time interval between submission deadline and when the conference takes place.

Brief Bio
Claire Mathieu works on algorithms, particularly the design of approximation schemes for NP-hard combinatorial optimization problems. She is employed by CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) in Paris, France. Her current research interests include approximation algorithms for planar graphs and for Euclidean problems; probabilistic models for social networks; hierarchies of semi-definite programming relaxations; network tomography; scheduling to minimize energy; online algorithms; computing with noisy information; facility location and clustering; and occasional forays into algorithmic game theory.

Claire Mathieu was a recipient of the IBM Young Researcher award, was a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France, and her paper "On the Sum-of-Squares Algorithm for Bin Packing" received the INFORMS 2007 ICS prize.

Most of them can be found on DBLP, see also Arxiv.

In 2017-2018 I am teaching Algorithms at Collège de France.
I taught a Coursera MOOC on Approximation Algorithms.
